Job Opportunity: Vascular Neurologist
The Department of Neurology at our organization is actively looking for a faculty member to join the Division of Vascular Neurology. This role will be based at our Altoona campus, under the guidance of the Chair of Neurology and the Chief of Neurology and Director of Stroke.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a vascular and endovascular neurologist on the Altoona campus.
- Collaborate with a team of local and regional specialists, including neurologists, neurointerventionalists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, Advanced Practice Providers, stroke nurses, therapists, and social workers.
- Engage in educational initiatives, larger departmental events, and research opportunities in collaboration with the Pittsburgh campus.
- Completion of at least one year in a vascular neurology fellowship.
- A minimum of two years in a neurointerventional fellowship.
- MD or equivalent degree, with board certification or eligibility in Neurology and Vascular Neurology.
- Ability to secure an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.

Our Altoona campus is a 400-bed regional healthcare facility serving nearly 400,000 residents in central Pennsylvania. It is recognized as a Joint Commission certified stroke center and has been conducting neurointerventional procedures since 2018.
We offer clinical teaching opportunities for medical students from both Drexel and the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine, focusing on Neurology Clerkship and Stroke/NIR electives. Our clinical services encompass outpatient clinics, inpatient vascular neurology services, and neurointerventional services, with a separate neurohospitalist service for general neurology consultations.
Research at our Altoona campus includes funded clinical trials in stroke, aimed at providing our patients with access to cutting-edge care, including drug and device trials. The Neurology department has seen a steady increase in research funding, receiving over $25 million in support for FY25.
Additionally, our department has been awarded the NINDS UE5 grant to enhance research training for residents and fellows through the "Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuropathology Pittsburgh Research Education Plan (N3-PREP)" and is part of the NINDS Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials (NeuroNEXT).
