Profession: Nursing Specialty: GI Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: 2 years preferred License: Active State License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: IV Starts Experience Description: Unit: GI; Pre-op and Phase 2 recovery in a gastrointestinal unit. Predominantly outpatient setting. Travelers will work in Pre-op and Phase 2 recovery. We also care for in-hospital patients. Pre-op duties include assessment, vital signs, and IV insertion. Phase 2 involves recovery monitoring vital signs, using the Aldrete scoring system, reviewing discharge instructions, and removing IVs. Patient ratio: 1:1 in pre-op and 1:3 in post-op. Experience with EMR systems such as EPIC is preferred. Daily patient diagnoses typically include screening exams, therapeutic ERCPs, and diagnostic and therapeutic EUS procedures. Common procedures performed include EGD and colonoscopy. Strict adherence to vaccination requirements is necessary, including a flu vaccine during flu season and a COVID-19 vaccine. This is a smoke/nicotine-free facility.
