RN Nursing Home Surveyor (Southern Region) Works remotely and must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet. Works a flexible schedule with the option of four 10-hour workdays. Schedule is typically from 6:45am – 5:30pm. Requires approximately 75% statewide travel. Overnight stays will be required. Works primarily in the Southern region of the state, but is required to travel throughout the state. Responsibilities Functioning as a member of the survey team conducting program monitoring activities and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and state codes, standards and guidelines for licensure, program certification and eligibility for participation in Medicare and Medicaid within nursing facilities and skilled nursing facilities. Ensuring compliance with standards and rules to meet federal regulations and state codes. Providing technical assistance to the health care facilities surveyed. Providing expertise to the survey team and serving as team coordinator as designated. Investigating complaints and conducting follow‑up and surveillance visits. Salary Information The starting pay is between $36.35 and $40.45 per hour (approximately between $75,600 and $84,100 per year), or up to the appointment maximum at the time of appointment, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits. An 18‑month probationary period is required. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following: Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Wisconsin. Eligibility means your application is currently in progress with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services or you currently hold a license in another state and are eligible to obtain a license in the State of Wisconsin. Must be licensed in Wisconsin by the time of appointment. Experience working as a registered nurse in a nursing home or long‑term care setting (e.g., behavioral health, dialysis, hospital, ICF‑IID, state facility, etc.). Experience interpreting and applying federal or state rules or regulations related to healthcare. Well‑qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following: Experience participating in or conducting a healthcare inspection or survey. Experience with investigative, legal, or regulatory enforcement related to healthcare or a healthcare setting. Experience working as a Registered Nurse in more than one health care setting (e.g., behavioral health, dialysis, hospital, ICF‑IID, state facility, etc.). Successful completion of the federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT). Other Requirements The position requires the ability to drive a State vehicle or the ability to provide one's own transportation. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements for the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle policy, which are: Must have a valid driver's license. Must have minimum of two years non‑probationary licensed driving experience with a regular (Class D) driver’s license. Must be 18 years of age. Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions: Three or more moving violations and/or at‑fault accidents in the past two years. Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months. Suspension or revocation of driver's license. For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.
