Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN)

An Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN) plays a vital role in the clinical setting by performing diagnostic procedures and interventions related to cardiac health. The EP RN is responsible for preparing patients for procedures, ensuring all equipment is functional, monitoring recordings during procedures, and assisting with data analysis and interpretation. They will work closely with physicians to facilitate the implementation of pacemakers and other related devices.

3 x 12 hour shifts, primarily days with some late-night (evening) shifts, holidays, on-call coverage as per unit needs.

An Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN) is responsible for:

• Preparing patients for electrophysiology procedures and ensuring the readiness of equipment and instrumentation.
• Monitoring read-outs and recordings during procedures and assisting with data interpretation.
• Assisting physicians in pacing implementation and installation of permanent cardiac devices.
• Coordinating with the Charge Nurse and vendors to ensure timely preparations for scheduled procedures.
• Maintaining patient-focused care, supporting anesthesia and documenting procedures.
• Assisting in fluid management for ablation catheters and providing assistance during ablations.
• Utilizing Epic for documentation of procedures.

Required experience/certifications/licensure:

• Nursing License (New York only)
• 2 years of relevant experience in electrophysiology or cardiac nursing
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association only)
• Proficiency in moderate sedation
