Family Practice/Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Location: Mesquite, Texas
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM 8:00 PM, seven days a week

Position Summary

We are seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at our Mesquite, Texas urgent care clinic, located at 1280 N Town East Blvd, Mesquite, TX 75150 .

This role is ideal for clinicians who value variety, autonomy, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment.

Clinicians at NextCare enjoy true work-life balance , including no after-hours tasks, flexible scheduling, and monthly schedules released in advance. Our full-time clinicians typically work three 12-hour shifts per week , allowing them to be off more days than they work.

You'll be supported by experienced clinical teams, strong peer relationships, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership who provide real-time guidance and mentorship. The work is engaging and varied, with a broad patient population and generally low-acuity presentations that allow clinicians to maintain a wide range of skills without the ongoing follow-up demands of an inpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
• Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
• Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound management
• Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
• Code and bill services appropriately
• Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
• Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Texas Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
• Current board certification:
  • NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
  • PA: NCCPA certification
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain
• Ability to evaluate and treat patients of all ages
• Active BLS certification
• EHR proficiency
• Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
• DOT certification or willingness to obtain; applicable fees covered

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or fast-track experience
• Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D
• Experience with initial x-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
• Experience practicing independently in a fast-paced clinical environment
