Reports to: Newark Pipe Plant Technical Leader Span of Control: Batch feed, melter and 2 fiberizing lines JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Living the Safety Stand and adhering to the employee safety responsibilities Ensure a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment and build a culture where safety is a priority. Ensure a clear and effective measurement system is followed and used to drive results; reward and celebrate safe behavior and achievements; ensure accountability Ensure that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical operation of the production lines are in place Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero safety incidents. Metrics: Safety metrics - RIR, TIRR, risk reduction, job hazard analysis, safe work plans, Positive Safety Interactions (PSIs) Driving Technical, Process and Quality Improvements Identify and lead new process improvements Set clear and measurable expectations, in line with plant goals; proactively analyzes and manages all relative performance metrics Effectively communicate objectives holding people accountable to deliver results Network/partner with peers to operate with zero environmental non-conformities maintaining compliance to applicable company, government and regulatory policies Administer and ensure strict adherence to business quality program, resulting in consistent and high product quality to customers Actively drive understanding of customer requirements and the relationship to plant process variables to ensure products meet the customer FFU at all times Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes/controls Demonstrate the ability to develop and meet key milestones, to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels within the organization and to technically contribute to the development of the process solutions Apply statistical methods/data analytics to estimate future manufacturing requirements Utilize capital execution from inception to completion for process/technical improvements Ensures nonconforming products are not shipped to our customers Promote a data driven approach to all quality related problems in plant Metrics: Glass related product characteristics and process variables. Forming, CMP and MP related process variables and product characteristics on flex core products, operational efficiencies - production line CE and bushing availability Executing Strategy across the organization Set clear and measurable expectations, in line with plant goals; proactively analyzes and manages all relative performance metrics Partner with relevant stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity and improve the product Use various tools (Lean/Kaizen, etc.) to drive improved productivity and plant performance Participate in TPM activities across the site Create an environment where all employees are engaged, empowered and focused on serving our customers Effectively plans and drives major furnace rebuilds along with weekly area routine clean outs JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline A minimum of 2 years progressive technical experience in a manufacturing environment, fiberglass process experience preferred PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Lean manufacturing experience preferred TPM experience preferred Willingness to relocate for future growth opportunities Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Engages and cares for others, starting with safety Achieves results fast, individually and through teams Takes business risks, grows from failures, celebrates successes Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization A balanced sense of self-confidence and an abiding respect for others.
