Travel - Registered Nurse - PCU/IMC/Stepdown

Healthcare Job Opportunity

You will be working in an Intermediate Care Unit with 30 beds, including 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms. The unit is focused on managing patients with conditions such as chest pain and CHF, and you will be expected to assist with drips and patient assessments.

Job Overview

• Shift: 12-hour shifts, night shifts must be on the unit ready to go by 6:45 PM

About the Unit

• The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio goal of 1:4, usually running at 1:5, occasionally 1:6.
• 2-3 CNAs are available on the unit with ratios up to 1:10-12.
• Charge nurses take a full patient assignment on both day and night shifts.
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, r/o MI, CHF, arrhythmias, and patients pre/post catheterization.
• The EMR system used is Sunrise.
• All respiratory equipment is managed by RT, who is in-house 24/7.
• The IV team is in-house 24/7 and performs all IV starts.
• Self-scheduling is allowed as long as the needs of the unit are met.
• Orientation lasts two days, with the first day spent with HR and the second on the unit with a preceptor.

Requirements

• Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• RN's must be able to read and interpret their own cardiac strips.
• RN's must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro.
