Cytology Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cytology Manager with strong expertise in Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) to join a high-complexity, CLIA-certified laboratory. This individual will oversee cytology operations while actively performing and reviewing advanced diagnostic testing, including UroVysion FISH analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Perform microscopic evaluation of gynecologic (Pap smears) and non-gynecologic specimens
Interpret and analyze FISH assays (UroVysion preferred) using fluorescent microscopy
Oversee and manage cytology and FISH technologists, providing leadership and guidance
Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and applicable regulatory standards
Review slides for quality, accuracy, and completeness
Maintain and monitor quality assurance and quality control programs
Support molecular pathology operations as needed
Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory leadership to ensure diagnostic accuracy
Communicate technical issues and implement solutions as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in a biological or related scientific field
ASCP certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) required
Minimum of 5 years of cytology experience
Required: Hands-on experience with FISH (UroVysion strongly preferred)
Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a laboratory setting
Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, CMS, and state regulatory requirements
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Work Environment

High-complexity clinical laboratory setting
Exposure to standard laboratory conditions, including biohazard materials
Fast-paced, team-oriented environment requiring strong attention to detail
