Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 4-10 hour shifts during the week Hours per Shift: 0700-1730 Experience: Zero (0) to six (6) months of related experience License: Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), BLS Description: The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies. This role monitors and evaluates patient functional status. The nurse utilizes the nursing process in caring for assigned patients. Completion of assessments and individualization of plans of care within established unit and nursing guidelines is essential. Nursing care should be carried out with consideration for cultural and psychosocial factors. Organizing, prioritizing, and performing nursing skills appropriate for the patient population is a must. Anticipating patient and unit needs is crucial. Demonstrating a sound knowledge base in the bio-psychosocial model is required. Effective delegation and communication skills are necessary. Professional judgment is expected in response to changing patient and unit situations. Documentation of steps of the nursing process and care on the appropriate record is required. Data must be recorded concisely, consistently, accurately, and legibly. Correct medical terminology and abbreviations should be utilized. Problems and progress toward outcomes should be addressed according to unit and nursing policy. Facilitation of patient teaching and discharge is part of the role. Timely and appropriate referrals are expected. Utilization of resources in planning and presenting patient education is necessary, considering patient age and cultural or psychosocial factors. Collaboration with other disciplines is expected as appropriate. Support of unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities is encouraged. Attendance at mandatory in-services and meeting unit education standards is required. Accurate completion of variance reports is essential. The decision-making process involves independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making decisions in a complex technical or professional field. The role involves direct interaction with patients and customers. There is a need to work with other healthcare professionals and staff.
