Position Summary

We are seeking an outgoing and detail-oriented Drafter to join our engineering team. This individual will be responsible for preparing clear, complete, and accurate working plans, technical drawings, layouts, and detailed designs from rough sketches, notes, and concept models.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working closely with engineers and other team members, communicates effectively, and can translate technical concepts into precise 2D drawings and 3D models. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and proficiency with CAD software are essential.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop detailed technical drawings, schematics, layouts, and manufacturing blueprints.
• Verify component dimensions, material specifications, tolerances, and spatial relationships between individual parts and complete assemblies.
• Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or DraftSight .
• Translate rough sketches, notes, and concept models into finished, high-precision designs.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, mathematics, and materials to ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable.
• Make design revisions and updates based on feedback from engineers and project teams.
• Process and incorporate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) .
• Create technical charts, diagrams, schematics, and other visual representations of engineering information.
• Conduct research to identify mechanical and electronic components that meet project specifications and design requirements.
• Maintain accurate drawing files, revisions, document histories, and configuration-control records.
• Ensure drawings, workflows, and documentation comply with company ISO quality management system requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other departments to resolve drawing and design issues.
• Maintain organized documentation and ensure drawings reflect the latest approved design requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 years of related drafting, engineering, manufacturing, or technical design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• College or technical program/certificate in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, DraftSight , or similar CAD software.
• Experience creating and interpreting detailed technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, geometry, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio .
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be comfortable communicating with engineers, manufacturing personnel, customers, and other team members.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, engineering specifications, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to prepare routine reports, documentation, and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and other members of the organization.

Mathematical & Technical Skills

• Understanding of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to work with fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, measurements, and tolerances.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical drafting and engineering situations.

Reasoning & Problem-Solving

• Ability to interpret written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify inconsistencies or potential issues in drawings and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with an engineering team.
• Ability to manage multiple variables and make sound decisions in standardized and project-specific situations.

Pay Details: $34.00 to $38.00 per hour
