Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading biotechnology organization to identify a Scientist to support formulation development and characterization of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for nucleic acid delivery. This hands-on laboratory role involves optimizing formulations, executing screening studies, and supporting non-viral delivery research.
Responsibilities
· Formulate and optimize targeted and non-targeted lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating nucleic acids, including mRNA, siRNA, and DNA, for in vitro and in vivo studies.
· Characterize LNP formulations and evaluate formulation performance under the guidance of senior formulation scientists.
· Execute Design of Experiments (DoE)-based screening campaigns to identify optimal LNP compositions and processing parameters.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to fulfill formulation requests and support research objectives.
· Assist with early-stage formulation development and downstream processing, including cryoprotection, scale-up, and stability studies.
· Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records documenting formulation procedures, experimental results, and observations.
· Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to the formulation team.
· Support routine laboratory operations, including inventory tracking, supply ordering, buffer preparation, and autoclaving.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with 5+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience , or a Master's degree with 2+ years of industry experience
· Minimum 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience in LNP formulation and nucleic acid encapsulation
· Proficiency in LNP characterization techniques, including Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), zeta potential, and RiboGreen assays.
· High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with statistical and data analysis software such as JMP or Prism is preferred.
· Strong experimental, analytical, and organizational skills with a focus on reproducibility and data integrity.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
· Experience preparing targeted LNPs using antibodies or fragments such as mAb, Fab, scFv, or VHH is highly desirable.
· Experience with immune cell delivery is a plus.
