Purpose of Announcement EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE WATER DEPARTMENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR. Kind of Work Analyzes environmental samples for the recovery, speciation and identification of singular cellular organisms utilizing membrane filter techniques, multiple tube techniques, and a photomicrographic phase contract microscope system and other professional laboratory equipment. Other types of analysis performed are biological oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, turbidity, and pH. Minimum Qualifications For Admission To Examination Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or Microbiology, OR a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science with a major in Microbiology, Bacteriology or closely related degree from an accredited college or university. All applicants must possess a current Louisiana driver's license* and an acceptable driving record. NOTE: A valid driver's license issued by a state other than Louisiana is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant will have ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. This examination will consist of a rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. For employees hired after January 01, 2007, a pension is provided under specific service conditions. Tenure Payment Employees are paid $25 per year of service in December of each year. Employees must have worked two years before the first check is paid. Deferred Compensation Plan (457b) Allows employees to defer up to $14,000 of pretax income each year.
