• Supervise the day-to-day operations of a clerical support team in immigration records, adjudication, and mail operations for a USCIS field office.
• Provide administrative supervision of clerical functions supporting customer service, preparing file records, contracting services, preliminary processing of case fi les and maintaining data information in a variety of immigration management systems.
• Provide facility management support for the mailroom by serving as an expert in mail operations.
• Monitor and adjust daily work of subordinates to meet uncontrolled priorities and requirements from the field office and with other neighboring DHS components.

Residency Requirement : There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.

Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/08/2026.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/08/2026.

GS-09: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-08 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the majority of the following duties:

• Handling sensitive and/or personally identifiable information for office file movements.
• Maintaining data information in office systems such as in databases to support processing and/or tracking time-sensitive files.
• Securely processing incoming or outgoing mail.
• Overseeing workload distribution to include reviewing and/or maintaining quality control over final work product.
• Providing instructions and/or additional information needed related to applications and/or petitions.
