Overview


We are seeking a Principal DevOps Governance Consultant for a short-term, high-impact consulting engagement focused on establishing enterprise deployment governance standards around Octopus Deploy.


This engagement is not centered on rebuilding CI/CD pipelines or performing day-to-day platform administration. Instead, the consultant will partner with Platform Engineering, Security, Compliance, and Technology Leadership to design and implement a scalable governance framework supporting secure, auditable, and standardized software deployments.


Responsibilities

• Assess the current Octopus Deploy implementation and identify governance gaps.
• Design enterprise deployment governance frameworks and operating standards.
• Develop RBAC models, production approval workflows, and separation of duties controls.
• Lead SOX readiness and deployment auditability initiatives.
• Improve release traceability, deployment reporting, and operational maturity.
• Define governance standards supporting secure enterprise software delivery.
• Partner with Platform Engineer.
• Produce governance documentation, operational procedures, audit artifacts, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Deliver actionable recommendations and a sustainable governance operating model for long-term success.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Release Engineering experience.
• Extensive experience leading enterprise deployment governance initiatives.
• Deep expertise with Octopus Deploy in enterprise environments.
• Experience designing RBAC, separation of duties, production approvals, and governance controls.
• Experience supporting SOX, audit readiness, compliance, and regulated technology environments.
• Proven success developing governance frameworks, operating models, and enterprise documentation.
• Strong consulting and executive communication skills.
