Resident Programs Lead for Camp & Youth Development

Position Summary : P rovides support and guidance for all specialized programing . Maintaining organization and oversight of the staff and campers with in the programs . Responsible for, but not limited to, s cheduling tasks, supporting staff in daily responsibilities, and creating and overs ee ing programing . Directly supervises staff within the program. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes camper safety and engagement . Provides a quality experience for children and parents focused on youth development including the YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith . Essential Functions : Creates and implements unique programing for all specialized camps Creates and o versees teen programs, such as: LIT, TAC, CIT. S chedul es and organiz es weekly tasks relevant to th e program . Collaborates with and creates programs suited for all partnership camp programs. Able to assist in all areas of camp when a vailable. Supervises and supports staff and campers in all programs. Supports program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate , and consistent with YMCA core values. Delivers a safe, fun and effective program. Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures pertaining to relevant programs. Maintains constant surveillance of the program areas when campers, guests, or staff are present. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for activities. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Takes immediate action to ensure safety procedures are followed by campers. Follows up with summer camp director to determine long term solutions/actions, provides timely and accurate reports and follow-ups. Responsible for completing daily tasks related to the operation of camp programs. Works with the team to maintain camp programing and scheduling as necessary. Observe all staff to ensure that they are performing their necessary duties. Participates in the completion of closing procedures following summer camp activities. Conducts evaluations of staff to ensure the quality of their performance and coaches / mentors' staff when they are not meeting expectations . Maintains working relationships with CFT. Submits requests in advance for additional equipment and supplies when needed . Participate s enthusiastically with other program staff to prepare camp for summer camper arrivals, departures, and special events . Participate s enthusiastically in program staff meetings and training . Maintains positive relations with guests and other staff. Convey information on programs and schedules for campers . Attends camp marketing events and other special events as directed, and other duties allow. Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery areas . Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time. Current record of tuberculosis examination and/or current local health department regulations, examinations, and/or immunization as required by the local or State Department of Health. Employees are regularly exposed to bodily excretions from children, depending on developmental level of children in the employee's care. The job is located on Lake Livingston at YMCA Camp Cullen in Trinity, TX for a YMCA Resident Camp Program. Qualifications: Prefer 2 years of resident camp experience. Prefer 1 years of supervisory experience. CPR, First aid and O2 certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations Other Requirements : The Special Programs Coordinator is required to live on the camp property during the season.
