Music Therapist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in program development, program oversight, and clinical practice supervision within the Care Coordination portfolio under Clinical Operations. Provide direct music therapy services to patients and families to ensure successful outcomes. Collaborate with the Manager of Care Coordination‑RGV, the Senior Director of Care Coordination, and on‑site staff to ensure quality services are provided. Deliver therapeutic interventions via music therapy techniques such as songwriting, playing instruments, improvisation, and listening to live or recorded music to improve patients’ physical, mental, and emotional health. Enrich the lives of children and families through individualized music therapy plans aligned with treatment goals. Maintain confidentiality, adhere to hospital policies and procedures, and demonstrate ethical business practices and personal actions aligned with corporate compliance and integrity guidelines. Follow The Driscoll Way customer service standards. Maintain annual education requirements. Serve as a resource for other departments; maintain and follow specialty‑specific Code of Conduct set forth by the licensing board. Be responsible for professional supervision and continuing education to maintain state licensure. Travel to ambulatory clinics and the main hospital campus for education and meetings as requested. Participate in chart audits for quality assurance. Participate in the review and revision of community resource lists. Participate in annual performance improvement activities of the department and assigned units. Participate in periodic review and revision of policy and procedures. Participate in budget planning. Respond to physician orders and nursing functional screening requests in a timely manner. Make daily rounds in assigned unit(s) and/or oversee staff adherence to practice. Upon suspicion or confirmation of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child, elderly, or disabled person, notify the appropriate agency (Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and/or law enforcement). Plan, coordinate, and attend team and family conferences and actively advocate in the review and planning of patient care as needed. Provide accurate and timely screening assessments for patients at all levels of functioning. Create therapeutic goals as part of a multidisciplinary team appropriate for patients’ medical, rehabilitative, and/or palliative care. Plan and deliver therapeutic treatment utilizing a variety of evidence‑based techniques. Complete necessary documentation clear, concise, and timely, meeting documentation standards and including goals understandable to anyone who reads them. Document family involvement in planning and implementation of treatment plans. Ensure clinical services are provided as appropriate. Maintain appropriate boundaries with patients and families. Develop music therapy treatment plans and establish patient goals while maintaining flexibility to adapt based on patients’ emotional and/or physical limitations. Assess coping styles of patients and families to create a therapeutic plan of care incorporating needs, interests, and abilities. Prepare and conduct music therapy treatment sessions. Plan and facilitate support groups for patients, parents, and families. Serve as a liaison and advocate with community programs and agencies related to therapeutic interventions/music therapy. Provide presentations and in‑services to school personnel, students, and the community as requested. Work with staff from outside agencies to ensure quality care along the continuum. Education & Experience Master’s degree required. Five years of music therapy experience preferred. Previous experience in health care preferred. Supervisory experience – a plus. Pediatric experience preferred. Familiarity with formal supervision requirements preferred. Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred. Certifications Board Certified Music Therapist (MT‑BC) required. Basic Life Support certification (BLS) required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
