Hvac Supervisor (NS)

Salary Range: $47,703-$83,479 Salary Grade: NC12

This position is located at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville, North Carolina. Alexander Correctional is a closed custody male facility with approximately 1,000 beds. HVAC Supervisor will be responsible for all installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units and associated air handling, chilled water distribution, and environmental control systems. Incumbent will plan individual jobs and long-term work operations, develop a preventive maintenance program, and control the quality of repair work. Position will report to the facility Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Duties:

• Supervise and train HVAC Mechanics
• Diagnose and repair various heating and cooling systems including chillers, boilers and water heaters
• Diagnose and repair of commercial walk-in coolers and freezers
• Familiar with electronic and pneumatic building control systems
• Experience with commercial kitchen equipment and repair
• Work with outside contractors

Minimum Education and Experience: High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and up to three years of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems including one year at the journey level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
