We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a growing privately owned construction company in North Las Vegas, Nevada. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who can strengthen reporting accuracy, oversee budgeting, and provide clear financial guidance across multiple lines of business. The successful candidate will bring strong construction accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day accounting operations across cash activity, fixed assets, the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processes.
• Oversee the collection and organization of financial information to ensure timely and accurate reporting of company performance.
• Maintain reliable financial controls, safeguard company assets, and uphold accounting policies that support accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple business units and deliver clear analysis to leadership.
• Review and validate work-in-progress reporting for construction activity to confirm accuracy at each month-end close.
• Build, track, and communicate annual and monthly budgets, highlighting variances and operational trends.
• Establish and refine internal control procedures that strengthen the company’s overall financial framework.
• Complete required filings, reports, and supporting documentation for federal and state regulatory compliance.
• Assess contract language and support negotiations to improve financial and operational terms for the business.
• Supervise project accounting staff and provide leadership in performance management, coaching, and other personnel-related matters.• At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, including a minimum of 3 years in a Controller-level position.
• Prior experience in the construction industry, with subcontractor experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, cost accounting, and controllership practices.
• Proven ability to lead accounting personnel, including hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions when needed.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and strong overall systems aptitude; experience with Trimble Vista is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and work effectively in English and/or Spanish.
• Ability to work independently, stay highly organized, and successfully complete the required screening process.
