Registered Nurse

We are seeking a part-time RN for the Center for Family Engagement & Well-Being in Chicago, approximately 35 hours per week, including weekends. The primary responsibility is medication administration, particularly the noon and 8pm medication rounds. The RN will also support children’s medical assessments, ongoing wellness needs, documentation, and coordination with DCFS.Hours- 3-11pm and prn (as needed) with some flexibility in hoursType of Position: Part-Time - 30 hours or-35 moreHourly rate is $32.50/hr.The part-time Registered Nurse at the Center for Family Engagement & Well-Being (CFEW) supports the health and well-being of children during their time at the Center. The primary responsibility is administering medications in accordance with orders and NYAP procedures. The RN also completes nursing assessments, monitors and responds to medical concerns, coordinates with DCFS, caregivers, and healthcare providers as needed, and documents care and communicates relevant information to the Center team.Services offered at NYAP’s Reception Center will include:Behavioral Stabilization Support, including crisis de-escalation and short-term evidence-based clinical services;Comprehensive Assessment that is strengths-based and person-directed;Intensive and Creative Placement and Permanency Planning based on assessment results and the tenets of the Casey Family Programs Permanency Roundtable Model;Group Treatment, Support Groups, and Structured Activities; andBasic Care as needed, including personal care supplies and places to eat, shower, relax and/or sleep for short periods.Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse position provides medical assistance to the clients served through NYAP including performing physical assessments and treating acute, minor illnesses as needed.Working At NYAPNYAP's commitment to doing what is best for children, youth and their families is a core value and one that we look for in our newest team members.Excellent training and continuing education and development opportunities offered on topics such as: PCIT, NMT, TF-CBT, BFST, CSAYC, TBRI, FFT and many, many more!Student Loan Repayment assistance, up to $1,200 per year!Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for you and your family!up to 10 Days Off Each Year based on hours worked!Partially Paid 11 Holidays Per Year!Competitive salaries and benefits including a 401(k)Tuition AssistancePeace leaveParental leaveFlexible scheduleRESPONSIBILITIESThe Registered Nurse will perform duties including, but not limited to:Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophiesPerform physical assessments on each client upon arrival and intake.Identify abnormal findings and notify the client’s physician or consulting physicians.Assure the need for medical treatment for illnesses and/or injuries are being met.Assure the administration of medication and/or treatment as needed.Assure all documentation and required record keeping is completed in a timely manner.Assess minor illnesses and administer non-prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy.Schedule and coordinate examinations by the consulting physician for each child.Assure the program’s compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing OrdersProvide in-service training and continued education to staff on health-care related needs of adolescents, CPR, and First Aid.Maintain Red Cross CPR/First Aid Trainer’s Certification.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a Registered Nurse with an appropriate Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in NursingMust have a valid Registered Nursing licenseNursing experience working with children and adolescents is required.Must be available for on-call phone consultations as needed.Must be able to maintain compliance with attending agency required training programs.Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.Driving and Vehicle RequirementsValid driver’s licenseReliable personal transportationGood driving recordMinimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability required.Ready to make an impact?
