Job Title

Responsible to the Laboratory for planning, guiding, and oversight of specific laboratory departments specifically Anatomic Pathology and Blood Bank. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Technology required.
• Requires up to four years' experience on this or related jobs in a hospital or healthcare facility to develop the judgement necessary to make appropriate decisions and to handle emergency situations.
• Certification as MT (ASCP) or NCA required.

Responsibilities and Major Duties

• Performs all duties of Registered Medical Technologist. Plans, directs job assignments of personnel in areas of direct responsibility. Ensures assignments all completed according to established procedures.
• Evaluates current and new test procedures, determines sources of error maximizing operational effectiveness and ensures methods and compliance with accrediting bodies. Monitors QC practices and ensures procedures and policies are followed. Ascertains the accuracy, precision, and reliability of all laboratory tests.
• Monitors all inventory for test performance (reagents, supplies, and parts). Organizes all test procedures, policies, instrument records, and competency test. Maintains compliance with all laboratory policies including mandatory program. Performs other duties as assigned.
