Assistant Cook

About the role As an Assistant Cook for Sodexo at Beths Grammar School, Hartford Rd, Bexley DA5 1NE,you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day food and beverage operations within the school kitchen. You will help prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals while ensuring excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, and customer service. You'll take pride in presenting food in an appealing way and contributing to a welcoming dining experience for pupils and staff. What you do * Prepare, cook, present, and serve food to company standards, which may include breakfast, morning break, lunch, and hospitality. * Assist with food preparation and ensure meals are produced to a high standard. * Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Food Safety, Health and Safety, Allergen Awareness, COSHH, and HACCP regulations. * Ensure all service counters and food displays are clean, well-stocked, and presented to company standards. * Portion and serve food according to business requirements. * Complete daily and weekly cleaning duties as instructed by the line manager, including food preparation areas, storage areas, kitchen equipment, and communal catering areas. * Safely remove and dispose of waste from the catering area. * Receive, check, and correctly store deliveries following food safety procedures. * Deliver exceptionally high standards of customer service, cleanliness, tidiness, and operational efficiency. * Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure the smooth running of the catering service. What you bring: * A minimum of 1 years of experience in hands on cooking, training on Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety will be given. * Must have expertise on cooking on a large scale, anywhere between 100 - 1300 students. * Have experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting. * Have experience working with fresh produce and ingredients. * Be aware of the importance of adhering to health and safety procedures. * Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy Kitchen environment. * Be professional, leading by example and having a positive outlook is key. * Hold basic food handling skills certification What we Offer Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it's a chance to be part of something greater.
