Design Manager

The Design Manager is a dynamic leadership role responsible for overseeing, executing, and delivering complex projects within the division, while also building and guiding a team of designers to support the division's growth and strategic objectives. This role combines hands-on project designing with strategic team building, focusing on developing innovative solutions tailored to specific industry markets. You will be responsible for the technical success of division projects and for hiring, nurturing, and developing a high-performing design team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the planning, execution, and delivery of key project designs within the division, ensuring alignment with business objectives, budgets, and timelines.
• Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new designers to build a high-performing design team aligned to the division's needs.
• Mentoring and developing designers, conducting regular performance reviews, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth.
• Overseeing resource allocation, workload distribution, and project assignment to ensure effective project execution and team development.
• Establishing, maintaining, and promoting engineering best practices, methodologies, standards, and tools within the division.
• Monitoring project design performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques, providing regular status reports to senior leadership.
• Identifying program and project risks, proactively implementing mitigation strategies, and driving issue resolution.
• Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning within the designing function.
• Collaborating with cross-functional leaders (sales, operations, finance, product) to support division objectives and deliver integrated solutions to clients.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related technical field, or minimum 4 years of experience in design management in the fire protection or construction industries.
• Knowledge of fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and applicable NFPA codes.
• Proven experience in hiring, developing, and mentoring engineering professionals.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Expectations include:

• Participating in weekly and monthly meetings similar to current standards.
• Assisting Division Leader in monthly forecasting and OIB.
• Participating in monthly division WIP meeting.
• Participating in monthly Management Meeting with division key personnel.
• Hiring and developing division-specific design teams to meet the goals of the division and of 3S.
• Building a culture of leadership within the division, including investing in each person's development, IDP conversations, and mentorship.

This role will be based out of our Suwanee, GA branch. This position is eligible for annual bonus and profit sharing based on company performance in addition to other benefits that support the total well-being of you and your family. Some benefits include:
