As a Registered Therapist IV, you will perform highly advanced therapeutic rehabilitation activities, coordinate programs, supervise and train staff, develop treatment protocols, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. The role requires mature clinical judgment, independent decision making, and collaboration with departmental and hospital leadership. Responsibilities Perform highly advanced, complex therapeutic rehabilitation activities and treatment. Coordinate therapeutic rehabilitation services and programs within the department. Supervise and/or provide training to Registered Therapists and Rehabilitation Therapy Technicians. Provide and/or direct skilled therapy to individuals. Develop treatment protocols for specialty areas. Analyze progress reports and supervise documentation of direct reports. Develop in‑service training programs. Work with departmental and hospital leadership to develop programming via performance‑improvement activities. Identify and implement quality‑assurance activities and audit documentation. Participate in performance‑improvement activities, including audits, PIT meetings, and plan‑of‑correction implementation. Maintain professional competence through continuing education and credential maintenance. Support facility and agency safety, risk management, and infection‑control programs. Perform additional duties as assigned, including support for disaster response and continuity‑of‑operations activations. May work additional shifts (evenings, nights, weekends) eligible for overtime pay. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of rehabilitation therapy principles and techniques for diverse patient populations. Knowledge of discipline‑specific therapeutic modalities and recovery processes. Knowledge of individualized care and recovery plan documentation. Knowledge of approved interaction methods for individuals. Knowledge of health, safety, and infection control standards. Knowledge of performance and quality‑improvement activities or techniques. Skill in using rehabilitation and orthopedic equipment, materials, and tools. Skill in evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation of patient progress. Skill in program design, implementation, and evaluation. Skill in operating computers and applicable software. Effective communication skill. Skill in supervising multiple employees. Ability to plan, develop, implement, facilitate, and administer treatment‑focused therapy groups. Ability to motivate and sustain individuals’ interest in rehabilitation activities and adapt as needed. Ability to observe, evaluate, communicate, and document individual progress. Ability to remain consistent and empathetic when working with patients. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Must be a licensed or credentialed therapist in one of the therapy specialties: physical therapy, art therapy, music therapy, dance movement, recreation, drama, occupational therapy, or speech therapy. Maintain current national registration, state licensure, or other certification required by law for the assigned specialty. Possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it within 90 days of hire if required to transport individuals. Initial Screening Criteria Graduation from an accredited program with coursework in a recognized therapeutic rehabilitation discipline. AND Three years’ experience in therapeutic work in one of the recognized disciplines. OR Three years’ training and three years’ experience providing therapy services to Children, Adolescents, Adults, or Senior Adults. Employment Eligibility Must be at least 18 years of age; applicants for the Waco Center for Youth must be 21 years of age. Must comply with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital procedures related to immunizations.
