Technical Project Administrator - Permitting and Easements
Sigma Technologies (Ohio)
Technical Project Administrator – Permitting and Easements
Are you a detail-oriented professional with experience in permitting, easements, and public records research who enjoys supporting technical projects from start to finish? Are you comfortable working independently, visiting courthouses, and professionally engaging with landowners and local jurisdictions when needed? We have an attractive opportunity for you!
Sigma Technologies is a growing engineering and design firm with over 500 team members across 30+ states. For more than 25 years, our work for the power and telecommunications industries has helped accelerate and fortify positive impact in communities across the country. Our core values — Safety, Honesty, Truth, and Decency — fuel our culture. We are TeamSigma™.
The Technical Project Administrator – Permitting and Easements works with internal project teams to ensure administrative and technical support functions related to permitting and easements are delivered accurately and on time. This role supports utility and telecommunications projects by coordinating permitting activities, researching right-of-way and easement information, and maintaining complete and accurate project documentation.
The Administrator prepares and manages project packages used by Field Technicians, Designers, Engineers, and Supervisors from initial inquiry through permitting and construction readiness. This position collaborates closely with Project Engineers and Supervisors to coordinate activities, track milestones, and record progress against established goals and metrics.
This role is more heavily focused on permitting coordination, easement research, courthouse and public records work, and landowner interaction, with CAD skills serving as a supporting capability rather than a primary responsibility. Monthly travel is required (typically 1–2 times per month), primarily within Georgia and South Carolina, to support courthouse research, municipal coordination, and project-related field activities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Pre-production staging, including office organization, entry of work orders, and preparation/printing of project documentation
- Coordinate permitting and easement research activities in support of utility and telecommunications projects
- Research Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), Right of Way (ROW), and easement requirements for each project
- Visit courthouses, municipalities, and other public agencies, primarily in Georgia and South Carolina, to obtain plats, deeds, easement records, and related documentation
- Professionally communicate with landowners, municipal staff, and other stakeholders to support easement access and project needs when required
- Track, follow up, audit, and report permit and easement status to ensure timely acquisition
- Update and maintain production, metrics, and milestone/schedule reports using Excel and internal data management systems
- Assist Supervisors and Project Engineers in coordinating project activities and timelines
- Prepare, organize, and maintain complete permitting and easement documentation for project records
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure accurate and complete project deliverables
- Read and interpret CAD drawings and plan/profile views to understand scope, locations, and project impacts (editing is a plus, not a primary focus)
- Understand and differentiate roadway classifications (U.S. Routes, State Routes, County Roads, municipal streets, private roads, toll roads)
- Final work package close-out and document filing
- Edit PDFs and prepare permit submittals for clients and municipalities
- Interpret field information gathered manually or through software such as Katapult
- Perform basic tracing functions in Katapult as needed
- Provide high-quality, efficient service with a focus on organization, accuracy, and teamwork
- Remain flexible, proactive, and resourceful when addressing project issues, taking ownership and proposing solutions
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in administrative and technical project support
- Other projects and operational duties as assigned
