This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to lead innovation, engineer impact, and build a legacy of excellence.HDR is looking for a Senior Structural Project Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services Business Group in Walnut Creek or Folsom, CA office. This individual will be responsible for the structural design of facilities in support of a variety of markets including Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. They will be responsible for the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction. Experience in structural design and detailing of building related projects is required. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound structural engineering designs.In the role of Senior Structures Project Engineer, we'll count on you to work under guidance of the NorCal structural leads to: Be responsible for structural EIT’s, junior engineers, designers, and/or modelers toward technical training and development and project deliveryServe as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects, and resolve problems of greater scope and complexityServe as EOR to perform, plan, direct, and monitor all structural aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically involving a large project staffCoordinate staffing and workload of staff through entire project development to complete documents on scheduleProduce and coordinate several projects concurrentlyConduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions in conjunction with other Project Managers, appropriate technical professionals and other disciplinesAssist in the responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing supportMay function as an Assistant Project Manager and assist in responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilitiesAssist with administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sectionsBe involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviewsBe directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issuesAssist in ensuring that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management systemImplement, monitor and support company policyAssist in the selection, training, development and management of technical personnelWork cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production effortsPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMicrosoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical softwareExperience in design calculations and layoutsAbility to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and woodRequires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysisPrevious experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firmIn-person office cultureMaster's degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringSE LicenseExperience with condition assessment, structural evaluations, and seismic retrofitExperience with environmental (water/wastewater) structures designLocal candidates are preferred#LI-MO1 QualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
