1st Shift Assembler

Assembler – 1st ShiftThis role focuses on assembling subcomponents and finished products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work closely with a partner to meet daily production targets, operate hand and power tools as well as an overhead crane, and follow assembly diagrams to ensure accurate and high-quality builds.ResponsibilitiesAssemble subcomponents and finished products using basic product and process knowledge.Assemble and fit metal products using hand tools and power tools to ensure proper fit and function.Review assembly drawings and diagrams to determine required parts, quantities, and proper placement.Measure materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure correct dimensions and alignment.Work with one team member to fulfill daily product orders and production goals.Lift components weighing 60 pounds or more to fit products together as needed.Perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, standing, walking, and extending arms for extended periods.Use hands frequently to operate hand tools, power tools, and related equipment throughout the shift.Maintain a steady work pace in a fast-paced production environment while meeting safety and quality standards.Essential SkillsExperience with assembly work in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for metal assembly.Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, diagrams, or schematics to determine parts, quantities, and placement.Experience using a tape measure to take accurate measurements for assembly tasks.Ability to operate an overhead crane or willingness to learn overhead crane operation for moving larger units.Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with metal components and heat exchangers.Ability to lift 50 pounds or more (40 pounds independently) and handle components up to 60 pounds during assembly.Ability to regularly walk, sit, stand, climb, reach, and extend arms for extended periods of time.Comfort performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.High school diploma or GED required by the time of permanent conversion (GED can be obtained through the company-funded program).Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience in metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, or similar industrial roles.Familiarity with heat exchanger assembly or related equipment is beneficial.Experience reviewing blueprints, schematics, or detailed assembly diagrams.Comfort working with structured production processes and 5S or similar workplace organization systems.Willingness to be trained and developed into a unit builder role.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized work instructions.Reliability and punctuality for consistent first shift attendance.Why Work Here?You will work in a modern, well-organized facility that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and structured processes. A second shift also runs from 2:00 p.m. to 10:39 p.m., with potential Saturday overtime from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The work takes place on a clean, organized, and large manufacturing floor where all sections are clearly labeled based on materials and production stages. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and overhead cranes while performing physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, standing, walking, and reaching for extended periods. The facility follows a structured and controlled environment, emphasizing neatness, organization, and adherence to 5S principles.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
