Description

We are looking for a responsible and reliable Day Porter to maintain the facilities clean, safe, and presentable throughout the workday. This position focuses on attending high-traffic and high-visibility areas, as well as performing special cleaning tasks as requested by the building administration. The Day Porter ensures that lobbies, restrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces remain clean, orderly, and in excellent condition at all times.

Essential Responsibilities and Functions

• Perform maintenance cleaning in high-traffic areas, such as lobbies, corridors, and common areas.
• Inspect and keep elevators clean, including vacuuming carpets and removing stains when necessary.
• Clean and inspect restrooms on all floors at least twice a day (morning and afternoon). Replenish toilet paper, paper towels, toilet seat covers, soap, and feminine hygiene products.
• Empty trash and recycling bins, replace bags, and keep containers clean.
• Dust, wipe, or spot clean surfaces such as desks, chairs, cabinets, window frames, partitions, light switches, and glass surfaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, baseboards, and other assigned areas.
• Inspect floors, walls, carpets, and other surfaces for damage or conditions requiring attention.
• Report mechanical or electrical issues, such as broken locks, faulty lights, or plumbing problems.
• Immediately attend to spills, leaks, or other urgent cleaning-related situations.
• Document and report any valuables found or damage observed during cleaning duties.
• Utilize and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuums, mops, steam cleaners, and other assigned tools.
• Ensure cleaning supplies are available and used according to established procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in commercial cleaning, concierge, or as a cleaning assistant (porter) preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and bathroom maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and orderliness.
• Ability to follow instructions, schedules, and safety procedures.
• Responsible, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
• Professional and neat appearance required.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Work Environment

• The job is primarily performed indoors, although occasional outdoor tasks, such as taking out the trash, may be included.
