RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work in 4Heart, Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) on E4 floor of E Heart Tower
• Care for cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients including open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA procedures, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Handle overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Maintain 1:5 patient ratio on 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) required per 6-week schedule period
• No call responsibilities
• Must be flexible to work holidays
• Float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical/surgical units (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Must have stepdown and telemetry experience
• Prior cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery population experience within one year preferred
• CVICU experience preferred
• Perform typical procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucose management, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Use equipment including Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts, and Cerner EMR system
• Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
• Must be a team player who enjoys fast-paced environment and demonstrates flexibility
