Location: Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint/ Saginaw, Pontiac, Kalamazoo, Adrian
Position Type: Part-Time | Leadership Development & Community Organizing

MI Poder is seeking passionate, community-centered emerging leaders to serve as Regional Organizer and help strengthen long-term Latino civic, cultural, and political power across Michigan. This role is designed as a leadership development and organizer pipeline program for people interested in becoming future community organizers, trusted messengers, civic leaders, and campaign leaders.

Regional Organizers work closely with Regional Coordinator to support field operations, community engagement, voter outreach, leadership development, membership growth, and regional organizing campaigns. This role also supports the Michigan Latino Voter Project, MI Poder’s statewide effort to build sustainable Latino voter participation and year-round organizing infrastructure.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about social justice, eager to grow as an organizer, and committed to building long-term community power.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support regional canvassing, voter engagement, deep canvassing, and relational organizing efforts.
  • Conduct door-to-door outreach, phonebanking, textbanking, and community engagement activities.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, canvasser support, and turnout operations.
  • Help with staging locations, field logistics, and outreach coordination.
  • Participate in voter registration, issue identification, persuasion, and GOTV efforts.
  • Support Regional Organizers with daily organizing operations and campaign activities.
  • Help maintain accountability and reporting systems connected to field programs.
  • Support implementation of the Michigan Latino Voter Project in assigned regions.
  • Conduct year-round voter engagement and community outreach.
  • Assist with volunteer and membership recruitment.
  • Help strengthen trusted messenger and relational organizing networks.
  • Participate in organizer trainings, political education, and leadership development sessions.
  • Support facilitation of workshops, trainings, and community conversations.
  • Assist with the development of Regional Policy Committees and local advocacy efforts.
  • Build relationships with community members, local organizations, schools, unions, and community institutions.
  • Maintain accurate outreach data using VAN, EveryAction, ThruTalk/Text, Google Sheets, and related tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to social justice, civic engagement, and community empowerment.
  • Interest in community organizing, advocacy, electoral organizing, or leadership development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a team-based environment.
  • Comfort engaging directly with community members.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Experience working within Latino, immigrant, Indigenous, bilingual, and/or working-class communities preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

What We Offer

  • Job Classification: , FLSA - Exempt position
  • Job Length: At-will┃ Temporary through November 6, 2026
  • Compensation: $20- $22/ hr. Hourly compensation based on experience and regional program structure.
  • Work Schedule: Approximately 30 hours a week. Flexible schedule with evening and weekend responsibilities during campaign periods needed
  • Benefits: 401K, Health coverage through BCBS, plus vision and dental.
  • Mileage and approved organizing expenses reimbursed per organizational policy.
