Security Officer - FT - Nights - Doctors Comm Med CtrTo provide personal and asset protection for patients, visitors and employees throughout the Medical Center facility, and to prevent any potential hazardous conditions through continuous monitoring of all areas.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Responsibilities include:Maintaining personal and asset security by conducting hazard surveillance rounds.Monitoring radio communication, telephone and written notes for daily information.Ensuring compliance with Maryland Department of State Police Licensing requirements.Responding timely to all emergency calls throughout the facility.Conducting preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages and other complaints.Preparing and submitting written reports, investigations, and daily events.Conducting personal safety screenings for weapons, contraband and other unauthorized items.Participating in crisis intervention to restore and maintain order.Providing staff education on safety topics and training new Officers.Performing regular patrols of assigned areas and inspecting security equipment.Maintaining accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence.Assisting with keys, contractor badges, traffic control, and building systems.Readies and secures helicopter landing area and provides support for patient transports.Providing safety escorts and assistance for staff, visitors and patients.Contributing to the achievement of established department goals and objectives.Performing fire drills as required.May have to work other shifts as necessary.Adheres to Luminis Health RISE values committing to a culture of Respect, Inclusion, Service, and Excellence.Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services, requirements and competency evaluations on time.Understands regulatory requirements with regard to compliance and all other laws and regulations that apply to the organizational operations and how these regulations apply to the individual's role/department/unit. Proactive in addressing compliance issues; reporting through appropriate channels such as supervisor, chain of command and Ethics Point. Completes mandatory introductory and ongoing training within the specified timeframes.Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community.Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent.At least one (1) year of Health care Safety and Security experience preferred but not required.Must pass a criminal records background check prior to employment.Maryland Security Guard Card preferred.Possess strong verbal, interpersonal communications skills and excellent customer service a must.Successfully complete Conflict Management training and demonstrate the ability to non-escalate, de-escalate and ensure safe physical stabilization tactics within six months.Must possess and maintain a valid Maryland driver's license or valid license from the state in which the employee resides with no more than two (2) Points on current driving record.Applicants must be able to obtain State of Maryland Guard Card and maintain good standing with the Maryland State Police.BLS/CPR Certification through the American Heart Association is preferred and must obtain within 90 days of hire.IAHSS Basic Officer Certification preferred, required for any promotion.There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.Physical Demands – Heavy: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.The physical demands and work environment that have been described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
