Established in 1943, the SK Food Group is a leader in the food manufacturing and wholesale food sales industry. We produce a complete line of products for many different market segments including retail, convenience stores, vending and the transportation industry. We are looking for a Packaging Technician I to join our team in Tolleson, AZ.

Summary: Operate production machinery and troubleshoot when needed.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following:

• Responsible for the set up and operation of the machine within accepted safety practices and the allotted time frame.
• Properly perform necessary setting adjustments.
• Properly perform film changes and ribbon changes including changeover from one dye to another.
• Ensure the products have the correct components before packing them.
• Continuously check the label, seals and date placement throughout the shift to ensure that every package label and date is correct.
• Fill out and sign all required documentation before each run.
• Monitor equipment operation to prevent unscheduled downtime.
• Communicate effectively with Production Supervisors, Production Leads and other Packaging Technicians on any situations arising during their shift.
• Other duties as assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent; Certificate from accredited college or technical school in Mechanical studies is preferred. Minimum of 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

None required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Read equipment manuals and diagrams.
• Understand and be able to practice basic troubleshooting skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is working in a warehouse environment and is frequently exposed to working near moving mechanical parts and extreme cold (non-weather). The associate is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and wet, humid conditions (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Required Training

This position requires training on Good Manufacturing Practices critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency. Training is also required on how to identify food safety issues such as temperature control, cross-contamination, sanitation and cleanliness of the lines, etc., critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality process efficiency.
