Responsibilities As a Speech Language Pathologist, you help patients get their power back, enabling them to communicate, swallow, and work to diminish or remediate disorders or deficits. You take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services, design the plan, and work with patients to execute those plans. You are a healer and a helper, and you approach each patient as an individual, designing a program that restores, reinforces, and enhances their speech and communication abilities. You are adaptable to the needs of each patient and find joy in the variety of the work and settings, from cleaning equipment to reporting to meetings. You collaborate with peers, make referrals when necessary, and train patients and caregivers on skills that promote independence and productivity. Qualifications A Master's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders, or a similarly titled area accepted by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association.
