Job Description

This 1st shift general labor position supports production and shipping operations by loading trucks, handling materials, and operating woodworking and material-handling equipment. You will work in a clean, organized shop environment, assisting with the preparation, movement, and documentation of materials while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Clean out box trucks and prepare them for loading.
• Review manifests and any additional paperwork to ensure products are loaded in the correct order.
• Locate materials in the facility and use a pallet jack to move them to the box truck door.
• Scan materials and manually load them into box trucks, including double-stacking stairs when required.
• Safely handle and load items such as stairs (approximately 180–480 lbs), rails (around 40 lbs), and cabinets (approximately 30–210 lbs), using team lifting for heavier materials.
• Lift up to 75 lbs independently when required, and coordinate with co-workers for heavier loads.
• Secure all materials properly for safe transit.
• Shuttle box trucks on the property when holding a valid DOT card, as needed.
• Assist with unloading cabinets in receiving or serve as a helper on deliveries when required.
• Perform occasional maintenance on box trucks, such as addressing lights or leaks, using a scissor lift once certified.
• Obtain and use a scissor lift certification through company-provided training for box maintenance tasks.
• Operate various woodworking machinery to support production.
• Cut and machine components for various departments according to specifications.
• Plane rough lumber to prepare it for additional processes.
• Rip material to size to prepare it for further processing.
• Glue up previously prepared materials for assembly or finishing.
• Use a wide belt sander to sand finished materials to required standards.
• Stretch-wrap and label completed orders for shipment or storage.
• Accurately enter completed and used components into the inventory system.
• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
• Lift up to 50 lbs independently in the shop environment, using team lifting for heavier items.
• Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and logistics needs.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing general labor tasks in a production, warehouse, or carpentry-related environment.
• Basic carpentry or woodworking experience, including comfort working around woodworking machinery.
• Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs independently when required and to use team lifting for heavier materials.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Good problem-solving skills to address day-to-day production and loading challenges.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions.
• Ability to work efficiently in a self-managed environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and a conscientious approach to quality and accuracy.
• Dependable work habits with consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Positive attitude, respect for others, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background or interest in carpentry or woodworking.
• Comfort operating or willingness to learn to operate woodworking machinery.
• Willingness to obtain scissor lift certification through company-provided training.
• Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks, or willingness to be trained.
• Appreciation for and contribution to a respectful, family-oriented work environment.
• Desire to learn new skills and grow within a production or logistics setting.
• Possession of a DOT card is a plus for shuttling box trucks on the property.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
