Research Associate - Biological Structure Annotation Specialist (Biocurator) This position is a full‑time, onsite role at the RCSB Protein Data Bank located at Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ. Overview As a Biological Structure Annotation Specialist (Biocurator), you will analyze, curate, and validate macromolecular structures submitted to the Protein Data Bank. You will participate in projects that impact the scientific community, communicate daily with researchers, and contribute to outreach and training activities. Responsibilities Analyze, curate, and validate macromolecular structures from the PDB community. Provide expert deposition, validation, biocuration, and remediation services to Data Depositors worldwide. Maintain data quality and uniformity in the PDB archive. Develop and promote community‑endorsed data standards for archiving and exchange of structural biology data. Communicate daily with research community members. Participate in scientific outreach and training activities. Qualifications Required Education and Experience PhD in structural biology or a relevant field. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of cryo-electron microscopy (3DEM) for curating and validating macromolecular structures. Experience validating chemical identity of small molecules and cross‑checking biological sequences with external databases. Preferred Qualifications Experience with small molecule chemistry. Experience with bioinformatics, cheminformatics, and computer scripting. Experience with Linux computer systems. Salary $93,077–$103,077, depending on qualifications, experience, and funding.
