Food Service Worker

The food service worker supports daily food production operations in a school kitchen that serves students. The position is responsible for preparing ingredients, assembling food items, serving students meals, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, energetic, and able to work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily production goals. This part-time position follows the Woodridge SD 68 school calendar and starts in August. Monday- Friday 8am-1pm. No nights, weekends, or holidays.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Prepare fruits, vegetables, and other menu items according to standardized recipes and meal schedules
• Wash, cut, portion, cook, and package food products for distribution
• Assist with meal assembly and service to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met
• Label, date, and store food products following food safety guidelines
• Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, steam tables, and knives
• Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout the shift. Follow HAACP procedures and document food temperatures as required
• Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking inventory using FIFO procedures
• Support cooks with food preparation and other duties as assigned
• Work efficiently to meet production deadlines
• Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation guidelines

Qualifications:

• Previous food service, restaurant, cafeteria experience preferred but not required
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required
• Serve Safe Certified or the ability to obtain certification upon hire
• Must pass federal background check
• Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements
• Ability to work in loud, fast paced kitchen environment
