Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Operating Room (General Surgery) – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day/Evening 12-hour shifts, 0640-1910 weekly with potential for one 0940-2210 shift once biweekly. Weekend rotation and weekday call requirement (one weekday call and one weekend call every 4-5 weekends).

• High-acuity Tier 4 general surgery operating room specializing in HIPEC, Whipple procedures, trauma care, burn treatment, colon resection, and organ procurement
• Advanced surgical technology including Da Vinci Xi robotic system and comprehensive laparoscopic capabilities
• Epic charting system in a Magnet-designated, top-ranked academic medical center
• Contract length: 13-21 weeks with up to two pre-approved time-off periods
• 1:1 patient ratio providing focused, high-quality perioperative care
• Diverse case mix including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, kidney transplant, tracheostomy, and microvascular free flap procedures

• Active RN license (pending license acceptable)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care operating room experience in general surgery
• Strong proficiency in laparoscopic surgery, robotic-assisted procedures (Da Vinci Xi), and ability to assist with conversion from laparoscopic to open procedures
• Experience with trauma cases (gunshot/stab wounds, motor vehicle accidents), burns, and surgical oncology preferred
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Comfort with cases involving vascular surgery, kidney transplant, and organ procurement
• Must pass telemetry competency exam with strict passing criteria prior to start
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
• Willingness to float as needed
