Your future starts here.PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:As Manager, Customs & Transportation, you’ll be at the forefront of optimizing our domestic and international logistics operations—ensuring seamless material flow and asset availability across borders. You’ll drive cost-effective, high-quality solutions in partnership with business leaders, while managing vendor contracts, budgets, and lead a talented team of 3 reports across Canada and Mexico. This is your opportunity to shape strategy, elevate service, and make a lasting impact.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Lead and manage North American Trade Compliance for imports/exports, ensuring alignment with corporate policiesOversee transportation and logistics operations, vendor performance, and regulatory complianceDevelop and implement trade compliance procedures, training, and manualsEnsure accurate customs data (HTS, COO, ECCN, valuation, Incoterms) across the supply chainCollaborate with internal teams (tax, legal, IT, procurement) and external partners to ensure compliant cross-border operationsManage customs brokers and logistics providers, supporting timely, compliant deliveriesIdentify scalable solutions to improve compliance, reduce costs, and streamline operationsGuide day-to-day trade compliance matters, including audits, duty programs, and government agency requirementsLead sourcing strategies and contract negotiations for customs and transportation servicesPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business/Commerce, or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.U.S. Licensed Customs Broker or equivalent international certification, education, and experience.Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in corporate trade compliance, with demonstrated knowledge of import/export regulations and global trade practices.This role requires demonstrated leadership capabilities and a clear aspiration to move into a people‑leadership role in the futureWHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER:Flexible and competitive benefits packageCompetitive company pension and/or retirement plansEmployee share purchase planAnnual fitness subsidyPart-time studies programPRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:Drug TestingThis position is subject to a negative company drug test.Background InvestigationCriminal history checkEducation verificationProfessional referencesSocial Security Number verificationBECOMING A RAILROADER:As an employee with a North American presence, the possibility does exist that the location of your position may be changed based on organizational requirements.Management Conductor ProgramBecoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC.
