Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 11.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active RN License in New York Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing - Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs Description: Assess patients' clinical conditions, recognizing, identifying, and interpreting serious situations. Prioritize and immediately decide upon and take proper action. Formulate nursing diagnoses to provide care across the life span, including medical, surgical, psychiatric, and obstetrical patients. Develop a plan of care by interviewing patients and family members and reviewing health records. Ensure the plan reflects special cultural, religious, physical, and psychosocial needs. Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations when a physician is not immediately available. Operate and monitor general and specialized emergency care equipment. Administer therapeutic measures prescribed by the physician, including medications and IV therapy. Plan, provide, and document patient and family teaching in preventive, curative, and rehabilitative measures. Record observations, nursing interventions, and status of coordinated activities. Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes, including patient status and responses to interventions. Update the plan of care accordingly. Document specific health care requirements for patients and manage assignments to team members. Plan and develop care delivery and implementation processes, ensuring proper documentation. Provide oversight for patient care administered by licensed practical nurses and unlicensed personnel. Offer technical guidance and direction to other nursing staff. Share responsibilities for sustaining adequate supplies and equipment on the unit. Maintain knowledge and competency in current nursing practices. Demonstrate positive role model and leadership qualities. Adhere to and promote professional, ethical, and legal standards of nursing. Maintain positive personal work habits and interpersonal skills with colleagues and patients.
