Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the operating room. Oversees and coordinates patient care before, during, and after surgery to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' health status and prepare them for surgery by reviewing medical histories and conducting physical examinations.
• Develop and implement individualized perioperative care plans in collaboration with surgical teams.
• Monitor and respond to patient needs, vital signs, and anesthesia levels throughout surgical procedures.
• Supervise and direct the activities of circulating nurses, scrub nurses, and other OR staff, ensuring adherence to protocols.
• Maintain sterile environments and ensure compliance with infection control standards.
• Educate patients and families about perioperative procedures, post-operative care, and recovery expectations.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current RN license in the state of practice.
• Possess at least two years of recent OR nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• Demonstrate current BLS certification; ACLS certification required for certain specialties.
• Have demonstrated proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems.
• Be knowledgeable of perioperative standards, aseptic techniques, and surgical protocols.
• Maintain compliance with all facility-specific and specialty certifications as required.
