RN Clinical Nurse Behavioral Health

Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse, RN specializing in General Psychiatry and Dual Diagnosis, is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to inpatient behavioral health patients. This role involves comprehensive clinical care, patient assessment, and collaboration within the interdisciplinary team to support mental health and dual diagnosis treatment. The nurse will ensure patient safety and therapeutic interventions in a behavioral health setting. Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical care to inpatient behavioral health patients.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor mental health status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Apply de-escalation techniques to manage patient behavior safely.
• Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
• Ensure compliance with safety and clinical protocols within the behavioral health unit.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of one year of behavioral health nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills in psychiatric settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Training in de-escalation techniques such as Welle or CPI.
• Experience working with dual diagnosis patients.

Special Considerations:

• Role involves working within a behavioral health inpatient setting.
• May require managing patients with complex psychiatric and dual diagnosis conditions.
• Must adhere to safety protocols and be prepared for potentially challenging patient interactions.
• Floating within the medical center may be required.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments may vary based on inpatient behavioral health unit needs.
• Flexible scheduling and floating within the medical center are expected.
