Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in Cardiac Intensive Care License: Must possess a valid state nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience with EKG interpretation - Experience with arterial lines, ventilators, drips, sheaths, dialysis, and drawing ABGs - Experience with Epic charting system - Ability to pass an online EKG tele competency assessment Description: The role requires a minimum of 1 year of dedicated experience in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Candidates should have Level 1 trauma experience preferred. Flexibility is key, as the candidate will float as needed. Nurse to patient ratios are targeted at 1:2. All nurses must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Travelers can expect to float between various campuses as needed. Candidates will be responsible for managing patients with complex conditions. The unit serves patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, respiratory failure, and cardiac arrest. Critical care experience is essential for managing patients post-cardiac surgery and during various interventions. The role involves working with specialized equipment such as continuous renal replacement therapy and ECMO. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction. Patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics. The typical daily census for the unit is around 33 patients. Proper documentation through the electronic health system is crucial for patient care continuity. Expected collaboration with interdisciplinary teams will include IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. All candidates are anticipated to complete lab work within specified time frames prior to starting their assignment. An EKG/Dysrhythmia exam will also be required before beginning the position.
