Job Opportunity – Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (Vascular Surgery) – New York

Start Date: ASAP – Ongoing (approximately 6 months)

Schedule: Full-time position (40 hours per week, with potential for 36-hour weeks when staffing allows). 24/7 service coverage with rotating shifts among 7-8 advanced practice providers. Shifts include mix of 10-hour and 12-hour schedules (7a-5p, 7a-7p, 9a-9p, 7p-7a). Nights and weekends required on a rotating basis. Call coverage typically 1-2 days per week, consisting of in-house OR coverage or home phone/beeper call.

Highlights:

• 100% inpatient vascular surgery coverage with no outpatient clinic responsibilities
• Balanced clinical duties including daily patient rounds (3-5 patients) and first assisting in OR (7-8 cases daily) for 5 vascular surgeons
• Typical patient census of 15-20 total patients in a busy, high-acuity vascular surgery service at a 450-bed hospital
• Epic electronic medical records system
• Join a stable, experienced team of NPs and PAs with minimal turnover (all team members have 5+ years tenure)
• Scope includes medical management, pre/post-operative care, open vascular procedures (peripheral bypass, carotid surgery, AV fistula creation, abdominal aortic surgery), and bedside procedures

Requirements:

• Active New York State NP or PA license (required at time of submission)
• RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) certification – REQUIRED
• NCCPA or ANCC/AANP national certification
• BLS and ACLS certifications current
• DEA registration
• 2-3 years of vascular surgery experience required (cardiac surgery experience with vascular cross-coverage also considered)
• Proficiency in medical management (diabetes, hypertension, acute illness) and comfort with open vascular surgical cases
• Credentialing timeframe estimated at 90 days
