The Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Primary Care Department.

The hybrid In-basket and Clinic NP or PA provides comprehensive patient care through a combination of direct clinical visits and in-basket management responsibilities. This role supports continuity of care, improves patient access, and enhances provider efficiency by balancing independent patient care with timely management of Patient Medical Advice Requests (PMAR) within the electronic medical record (EMR). This role supports efficient patient communication, timely clinical decision-making, and continuity of care through collaboration with physicians, medical assistants, administrative staff, and operations.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled patient visits in clinic, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
• Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic tests and results.
• Provide patient education and counseling.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams regarding patient care plans.
• Document encounters accurately and efficiently within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Support continuity and access for established patient panels.

In-basket Responsibilities

• Review, prioritize, and manage incoming in-basket messages within the EMR.
• Respond to patient messages related to clinical concerns, medication questions, test results, referrals, and care coordination.
• Triage patient concerns and escalate urgent or complex issues to the appropriate provider or care team member.
• Review laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate findings to patients as appropriate.
• Coordinate follow-up care, appointments, referrals, and additional testing needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, administrative staff and operational teams to optimize workflow efficiency and patient care.
• Support standardized workflows and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to In Basket management.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR.
• Monitor work queues to ensure completion within department service standards.
• Participate in team huddles, workflow discussions, and quality improvement efforts.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• DEA certification
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred experience

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred.
• Experience using electronic medical records (Epic preferred).
• Experience with ambulatory care, triage, or inbox management.
