Fiber Technician

Starting at $20.00/hr once training is complete. Only four days a week! Matching 401k, health/dental/vision benefits, holidays. Working with the public in a customer service oriented environment. This job requires a great personality and the ability to keep yourself motivated without much oversight. Company vehicle/gas, tools and computer are all provided.

General Summary Of Duties

Installers or Inside Techs work performing fiber optic installation services inside of customers' homes. They may be exposed to inclement weather while working inside and outside customers' homes. Installers will need a vast knowledge of internet capable and streaming devices. A typical day consists of reading work orders, speaking with customers and installing the services ordered. Running one line to a central location in a residential home and setting up a router and streaming device.

Supervision Received

The Technician reports directly daily to the Field Supervisor.

Full-Time/Part-Time Status

The Technician position is considered a regular, full-time position, and the employee is thereby eligible for all employment benefits which are offered to regular, full-time employees.

Physical Requirements

The position requires:

• Frequent prolonged sitting, occasional prolonged standing, and frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and stretching.
• Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity, including but not limited to the ability to use office wireless communication and computer equipment, as well as all tools of the trade.
• Ability to read well and to distinguish letters and symbols.
• Ability to lift and comfortably maneuver an extension ladder weighing from 36.5-59.5 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds from floor to knuckle occasionally.
• Ability to lift 10 pounds from shoulder and above frequently.
• Ability to crawl and maneuver in crawlspaces, attics, basements, and similar confined areas and close quarters frequently.

Typical Working Conditions

Work generally involves travel to and from customers locations and then working inside those customers locations. Work will be performed on the side of the road, in the woods and through inclement weather. Occasionally work will be performed at other locations, such as at the company’s warehouse, or elsewhere.

Qualifications

1. Minimum one-year experience working as an installation/service technician in the CATV or related industry. 2. High school diploma or GED. 3. Valid drivers license. 4. Successful completion of company’s pre-employment testing, including background check, motor vehicle report, and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening. 5. Continued adherence to company’s drug free workplace rules and post-employment drug/alcohol screenings, including for cause, post-accident, and random screenings.

Comfortable working in a pay for performance environment. 5. Ability to utilize technologies such as a handheld device, computer, smart device, and/or GPS devices.

In addition, in order to serve the company’s customers, the ability to attend work as scheduled, and to attend with punctuality, are essential functions of the position. The position may require occasional irregular work hours, including overtime, in order to meet scheduling demands and otherwise meet customer needs, and therefore the ability to work such irregular hours on occasion, as needed, is an essential function of the position. In addition, the ability to work well with and get along with co-workers, customers, and the public is an essential job function.

Other Duties

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the Technician will be expected to perform other occasional duties and responsibilities, such as: assisting other job techs, performing some occasional errands, and other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
