Description Orbital Welder - Data Center Cooling (DCC) Steel & O’Brien | Arcade, NY About the Role Steel & O’Brien is looking for an Orbital Welder to join our Data Center Cooling team in Arcade. You’ll set up, program, and operate orbital welding equipment to produce high-quality, precise welds that meet engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys detailed, hands-on work, can follow tight tolerances, and works well with engineers, technicians, and production teammates in a fast-paced environment. What You’ll Do Set up, program, and operate orbital welding equipment to complete high-quality welds. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, welding symbols, and welding specifications. Inspect materials and completed welds to confirm they meet industry standards and project requirements. Maintain and calibrate welding equipment for reliable performance. Follow safety protocols and workplace best practices to prevent hazards. Work with engineers, technicians, and team members to support precise, efficient work. Perform quality checks and document welding work. Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues. Help develop designs for welding projects. Use a variety of tools and equipment. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor or management. What You’ll Bring Proficiency in orbital welding processes, techniques, and equipment operation. Ability to read basic measuring devices. Ability to cut and form tubing and other fittings. Understanding of metallurgy, materials science, and welding symbols. Ability to work in a high-precision environment and follow strict tolerances. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn-required. Proficiency in math preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
