About the Position

Previous charge experience preferred. Travel experience required. Patient ratio experience required. Description: Locals at the same rate are welcome to apply. Candidates from other facilities are eligible for this contract if separated for at least 3 months. Experience with labor and preterm labor is necessary. The facility has 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrub, low-risk antepartum, and low-risk labor and delivery. Special procedures involve blood and blood products administration, cardioversion, defibrillation, cooling, warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. The nurse will administer heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate. Duties include attending all deliveries and high-risk deliveries, GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum, and transition nursery care. The staffing ratio is 1:1-3, with a requirement to float to postpartum and NICU based on skill set. A thorough understanding of the administration of blood products, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, and labor and delivery processes is required. Additional skills include performing sterile vaginal exams, managing pain assessment and management, and triaging obstetrical patients. The facility conducts approximately 200-300 births per month and is a teaching hospital. The nurse will be involved with high-risk antepartum and maintain central lines. Experience with insulin drips and isolation precautions is essential. Wound assessment and care as well as the use of intrauterine pressure catheters is necessary.
