We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to land development / community development. This position will be involved with significant projects, interact with clients and government agencies and effectively working with a team.At our Sarasota office, we create complete communities from beginning to end, and beyond. We share a common goal with our clients because we live and work in the same communities—and we want them to thrive.Your Key ResponsibilitiesPerforming all aspects of civil engineering design including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, water, sewer, and erosion control. Projects may include land development (all types/sectors), roadway/intersection design, preparation of construction plans and related design reports.Preparing complete submission packages, supporting calculations, cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties.Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.Utilizes technologies in development of three dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.Prepares and revises documentation in various civil phases including site plans, and details.Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.Participates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, and basic cost estimating.Assists Project Manager with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.Lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.Participates in constructability review.Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.Your Capabilities and CredentialsAbility to perform all aspects of design (grading, streets, water, sewer, storm drain, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.Sound knowledge of industry practice and demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.Experience with both private and public sector clients/projects.Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Hydrology / Hydraulic design software, Microsoft Office Suite.Direct experience in client management and business development is an asset.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.Minimum 6 years of experience in the profession of Civil Engineering civil/site design.Registered Professional Engineer in FL or ability to obtain within 6 months.Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
