• Contract Duration: 6 months
• Pay Rate: $46.62 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: 40-hour work week (4x10's) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules
• Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Job Summary

This role provides hands-on support to Engineering, Production, and Manufacturing by performing activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electro/mechanical systems. Applications may include electronic circuits, power distribution, life/vehicle critical safety systems, and battery systems. Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions. The technician performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment, and assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Work is performed in both a laboratory setting as well as on the manufacturing floor or on vehicle depending on manufacturing needs.

This role is part of the Engines, In-Space Systems and Test Ops group and is based in Kent but supports all business units and groups across all facilities. As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems . You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of Flight-grade Avionics. Work in the Avionics Hardware Lab requires a high level of technical proficiency in work such as soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring.

Key Responsibilities

• Building different components and assemblies for all groups across all facilities in all different environments (development, test, and flight).
• Assisting with assembly of new and updated designs by working directly with engineering to determine best practices for assembly.
• Giving regular input on manufacturing improvement opportunities or build changes leading to more efficient assembly.
• Serving both internal and external customers across multiple systems and multiple platforms; each Technician is a valued part of the chain that supports safe human spaceflight.
• Maintaining a focus on safety, collaborative teamwork, and quality to work together to determine the best path forward, balancing speed and safety to create high-quality components that will propel future astronauts and payloads into space for the improvement of mankind.
• Applying torque to fasteners/components.
• Fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.
• Inspecting and certifying work performed to relevant standards and specifications.
• Applying and removing polymerics (staking, potting, encapsulation, and conformal coating).

Required Skills

• Familiarity working in an ESD EPA and with tool control/accountability processes.
• Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering, and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies).
• Experience with applying torque to fasteners/components.
• Experience fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.
• Experience inspecting and certifying work performed to relevant standards and specifications.
• Attention to detail and passion for space.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
• Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting, encapsulation, and conformal coating).

Preferred Skills

• 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair or component replacement.
• Experience with energized power/high voltage systems, battery systems, or RF assemblies.
• Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
• J-STD/J-STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework and 620/620 Space Addendum.
• Experience and capability to interface with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders, and configuration management systems.
• Experience with documenting non-conformances and carrying out dispositioned repairs.

Required Experience

• 3 or more years' experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work a 40-hour work week (4x10's) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules.
