Assist in maintaining performance improvement activities within the facility and participates in CQI activities. Perform general maintenance and repair duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Physical Plant. Receive daily direction from the Director of Plant Operations via verbal or written communications. May share on‑call with Director of Plant Operations. Report daily to the Director of Plant Operations regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress. Participate in the applications of standards of quality and productivity for the facility. Follow policies, procedures and standards of work performance for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems. Assist in administering the maintenance program to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant. Work closely with other departments and administration, negotiating priorities, planning work schedules, completing job assignments, and requesting orders of needed materials, supplies and parts. Perform and complete maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction, and check out installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems. Assist with maintaining stock levels of materials and parts within budgetary constraints. Assure compliance with state and federal requirements in regards to the energy management program. Assist with coordination of all fire and safety measures throughout the hospital, including fire and safety inspections and procedures in conjunction with Safety and Security Departments when requested. Participate in performance improvement and information management activities. Other duties as assigned. Maintain professional growth and development. Maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care to the patient population served. Report to work on time as scheduled; adhere to policies regarding notification of absence. Attend all mandatory in‑services and staff meetings. Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner. Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. Maintain current licensure/certification for position, if applicable. Consistently demonstrate Guest Relation’s skills to patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other individuals with whom they may come in contact. Consistently follow departmental and hospital Health, Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials policies and procedures. HIPAA: Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws, follow hospital policy in provision of patient confidentiality, and report to proper hospital personnel immediately. Compliance: Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with standards set forth in Kindred's Code of Conduct, Kindred policy and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable standards. What We’re Looking For High School diploma or the equivalent. At least 2 years' experience with maintenance, preferably in a hospital setting. Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory policy and procedures highly preferred. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Basic computer knowledge. Knowledge of basic equipment. Appropriate telephone communication skills.
