IC Validation Test Engineer

Ferric is a technology startup based in New York City that is pioneering an entirely new approach to power delivery for Integrated Circuits and Electronic Assemblies. This approach leverages Ferric’s integration of thin-film magnetic inductors with CMOS technology to enable a significant improvement in the integration density and efficiency of voltage regulators (VRs) compared with current commercially available technologies. About the role As a Ferric IC Validation Test Engineer, you will gain exposure to the full product-life of Ferric’s ICs by working with a diverse cross‑functional team including IC designers, test & application engineers, engineering vendors, the fab, and our customers. Your primary responsibilities include validation testing and characterizing Ferric’s mixed‑signal ICs, creating test plans, performing bench‑level tests, developing and maintaining a suite of automation scripts for IC performance characterization, and supporting IC product qualification and production testing with engineering vendors as ICs are productized. The position requires a strong background in mixed‑signal IC design and test, experience with standard circuit test lab equipment, instrument automation/programming, and data‑analysis skills. What you’ll do Create and review test plans and test cases with IC design and test teams, including recommendations for DFT & TFQ, test & debug visibility, etc. Bench‑level validation, characterization, and debug of full ICs and IC sub‑systems. Develop and execute Python scripts to automate the characterization and data acquisition of key DC‑DC power‑converter metrics. Design and assemble bench‑level IC test boards and test fixtures. Support the Field Applications Engineering team with bench test/demo setups and customer support items. Support the Product Engineering team in developing production/ATE test programs based on validation testing. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Industry Experience: 0–5 years. Self‑motivation, willingness to learn and grow, and ownership of engineering solutions. Excellent communication skills to share information with stakeholders, including Ferric customers. Strong problem‑solving skills and solid understanding of mixed‑signal IC design and test. Experience with data collection and analysis for validation reports and root‑cause failure analysis. Experience with PCB design, assembly, component selection, soldering. Familiarity with VISA API and SCPI standard for controlling test equipment. Lab experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMM), source‑measure units (SMU), DC power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers. Knowledge of DC‑DC power‑converters and regulators (Buck, Boost, LDO). Software proficiency: Cadence Virtuoso Suite, PCB design tools, Linux & Windows OS. Preferred/Plus Skills and Experience Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Industry Experience: 2–5 years in IC test. Knowledge of IC product qualification stress‑testing for release‑to‑production. Knowledge of IC production testing, including ATE and related techniques. Experience with statistical data analysis of IC production data, including parametric correlation analysis, yield and quality improvement.
